Tourist arrivals as of March 2017 registered an increase of 9.96 % over the same quarter of 2016. Tourist arrivals totaling to 219,292 is composed of 148,647 domestic and 70,645 foreign. Data source for tourist arrivals are from the accommodation establishments within the region.
Same day visitor arrivals for the provinces in the valley was registered 25.8% lower than the figures of the same quarter in 2016. The decrease can be attributed to the after effects of Typhoon Lawin.
Gross receipts for visitor spending reached Php 1,282,264,502.00 in the first quarter of 2017, lower by 12.3% from the same period in 2016 due to lower same-day visitors in mainland Cagayan Valley.
The office acted upon 127 tourism enterprise for new and renewal of Application for Tourism Accreditation of which 102 were accredited. The DOT regional office is also developing tourism products in faith, farm and ecotourism within the region, as well as river tourism in Peñablanca.
